Kerry Sail Company

Kerry Sail Company began exclusively as a windsurf sail repair loft and this still remains the core of our business today.

Years of professional windsurfing competition, travel and sponsorship has opened up many contacts within the sailmaking industry. This has enabled us to source a vast range of specific materials directly from leading manufacturers and build up a unique and extensive stock of most colours and styles of x-plys, films, luffsleeves, mylars and tapes to ensure all repairs are 'like new'!

Three industrial sailmaking sewing machines, including a Jentschmann / Solent long arm, walking foot unit, all set into a custom KSC built steel sail table ensure all seams are stitched with original stitch patterns and thread colours to complete your 'invisible' repair.

Sail Repair
IR 37

Small patches, monofilm and x-ply panel replacements, luff sleeve patches and sections, major sail reconstruction, head straps, tack pulleys and clew eyes are just some of the services we offer. We have built sails for and tested them in 100knots of wind so we know how things go together, and how to ensure they stay together! All this research and technology is applied to all our repairs. Your repair will be stronger than the rest of your sail!

Viability analysis of older sails before any work commences means you wont spend more on your repair than your sail is worth. However, even if you think your sail isn't worth repairing economically, there might be something we can do to keep it going.

Sails MUST be washed on both sides with FRESH WATER and dry and free from any salt or sand before any work can be carried out. (Tape doesn't stick to salt and sand wrecks sewing machines; and my head!!) We can wash and dry your sail at the loft but the service will cost a flat rate charge of €10 per sail. Washing your sail in the sea, lake or the stream next to the beach doesn't count! Also, putting your sail back into a wet sandy bag will set you back to square one. Cleanliness is paramount!

When sending your sail, please roll the sail VERY tightly and secure with tape before putting it in its bag, to avoid crushing in transit. It usually costs around €15 to send a sail from anywhere in Ireland with An Post. We have a Fastway account so can return multiple sails to all corners of the island of Ireland from as little as €12. Please enclose your name, return address, and a small description of what needs repairing. On receipt of your sail, we will call you and advise of cost before commencing work.

Essentially, our motto is: "We will repair your sail as we'd expect our own sails to be repaired."

*PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO LIMITED STORAGE SPACE IN THE LOFT, WE CANNOT KEEP LOOKING AT YOUR SAIL FOREVER.  KSC RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SELL / RECYCLE / GIVE AWAY YOUR SAIL IF WE HEAR NOTHING FROM YOU AFTER 6 MONTHS, TO RECOVER OUTSTANDING COSTS AND FREE UP SPACE.  WE PROBABLY WONT, BUT YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! *
